考点一、形容词、副词最高级的用法

(1)形容词、副词最高级的构成规则

规则变化：

1.一般单音节词和少数双音节词, 在原级后面加-est；

small → smallest short → shortest hard → hardest high →highest

2.以不发音e结尾的单音节词,在原级后加-st；

large → largest nice → nicest wide → widest

3.重读闭音节词，词尾只有一个辅音字母时（以一个辅音字母结尾且其前面有单个元音字母发单元音词）,先双写末尾的辅音字母,再加-est；

big → biggest hot → hottest fat → fattest

4.以"辅音字母+y"结尾的双音节词, 把y改为i, 再加-est；

easy → easiest heavy → heaviest busy → busiest happy → happiest

5. 多音节词和部分双音节词,在原级前面加most；

beautiful → most beautiful easily → most easily outgoing →most outgoing

不规则变化：

good → best well → best bad→ worst ill→ worst old→ oldest / eldest

many / much→ most little → least far →furthest / farthest

(2) 当将三个或三个以上人或物进行比较时用到最高级，表示其中一个在某一方面超过其他几个，"最……" 。

常用的几个句型

① 主语 + V. + the + 形容词/ 副词 最高级 + in / of 短语。表示"……在……中是最……"

Tom is the tallest boy in our class. 汤姆在我们班上是最高的。

Who runs (the) fastest of the three boys？在三个男孩子谁跑得最快？

in 接表示集体、组织等的单数名词，表示在……范围内, 如：in my family

of 接复数名词，表示在……当中， 如：of all the students

② 特殊疑问词 + V. + the + 形容词 / 副词最高级，A, B or C?

表示"在A，B和C 中，哪一个最……"

What subject do you like best, English, history or math?

③ 主语+ V. + one of the + 最高级 +复数名词 + 比较范围。

表示"……是……中最……其中之一"

Shanghai is one of the biggest cities in China.

上海是中国最大的城市之一。

Mr. Zhang is one of the most popular teachers in our school.

张老师是我们学校最受欢迎的老师之一。

④主语 + V. + the + 序数词 + 最高级 + 单数名词 + 比较范围。

表示 "……是……中第几……"

Mike is the second tallest student in our school.

迈克在我们学校是第二高的学生。

The Yellow River is the second longest rivers in China.

黄河是中国第二长的河流。

(3) 形容词 / 副词最高级用法中的几个注意事项：

①通常形容词的最高级前要加 the , 但形容词最高级前还有序数词、形容词性物主代词、名词所有格等限定词时，不加the。副词的最高级前定冠词the 可加可不加。

It's the best time to visit Beijing in autumn. 秋天去北京是最好的时间。

Tom is my best friend. 汤姆是我最好的朋友。

Who dances (the) best in your class? 你们班上谁跳舞跳得最好？

②形容词/ 副词比较级和最高级句型间的转换

Tom is the tallest student in his class.

汤姆在他班上是最高的。

= Tom is taller than any other student in his class.

汤姆比他班上任何一个其他学生都要高。

考点二。population 的用法

1. population 名词 "人口", 表示某一特定国家或地区的人口用 the population of……, 做主语时，动词用单三形式。

2. 询问某一国家或地区的人口数量用句型 What's the population of……?

What's the population of China? 中国有多少人口？

3. 表示人口的 "多、少"，用large 和 small, 不能用many 和 little。

The population of China is much larger than America. 中国人口比美国多很多。
